Defence Minister Rajnath Singh flagged off the 13-day 'Shaurya Vijay Yatra' on 14 July 2026 from the National War Memorial, New Delhi. Themed 'One Ride, One Nation, One Salute', the motorcycle expedition saw 28 riders cover 1,900 km, paying homage at the Chandimandir, Rezang La and Leh war memorials. Saikhom Mirabai Chanu won India's first gold of the Commonwealth Games 2026 at Glasgow on 26 July, lifting a total of 190kg (85kg snatch + 105kg clean and jerk) in the women's 48kg final at the Scottish Event Campus. She set Games records in snatch, clean and jerk and total. It was her third straight CWG gold after Gold Coast 2018 (48kg) and Birmingham 2022 (49kg), and her fourth CWG medal counting the silver at Glasgow 2014.
